Major Summer Art Fairs Enrich the Hamptons Art Scene
Three major art fairs return to the Hamptons this summer—ArtHamptons, Art Southampton and Market Art + Design. All three will be must-attend events for art collectors and art enthusiasts from the East End and abroad.
ArtHamptons
July 2-5, 2015
Lumber Lane Reserve, Bridgehampton
In order to accommodate the growing number of artists and patrons this fair draws after seven successful years, ArtHamptons will take up residence at the Lumber Lane Reserve in Bridgehampton, and will showcase 67 exhibitors from 12 countries.
ArtHamptons will host an array of events throughout the weekend. First Look, on July 2 from 5–7p.m. will benefit Guild Hall and the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation. Attendees at this event will score a first look at all of the exhibitions, and have an opportunity to purchase artwork the night before the event opens to the general public.
Other events will include Brunch with Jackson Pollock on July 3 from noon –1:30 p.m., paying tribute to the legendary Springs artist; a panel discussion titled What is Hot and What is Not; and The Artrageous Fourth on July 4 from 1–8 p.m. featuring Made in America spirits and barbeque. arthamptons.com
Market Art + Design
July 9-12, 2015
Fairview Farm at Mecox, Bridgehampton
Market Art + Design premieres as an expansion of Art Market Hamptons, and will continue to be one of the East End’s prominent modern and contemporary art fairs. Situated on Fairview Farm in Mecox, the event will feature top-tier artists from some of the world’s best galleries. The design component will feature a carefully curated selection from around the globe.
Opening the event will be the Market Art + Design preview, running from 6–7p.m., with a VIP party following from 7–10 p.m. The preview benefits Peconic Land Trust. Opening night events will feature local bands, exquisite food and will give those in attendance an exclusive first look at all exhibitions.
Public hours for the weekend will be Friday, July 10 and Saturday July 11 from 11 a.m.–7 p.m., and Sunday July 12 from noon – 6 p.m. artmarkethamptons.com
Art Southampton
July 9-13, 2015
Nova’s Ark, 60 Millstone Road, Water Mill
Art Southampton will feature 80 meticulously selected international art galleries with sculpture, paintings, photography, video and installations from the 20th and 21st centuries. Art Southampton is moving this year in order to accommodate the event’s growing number of guests, and will be located in Nova’s Ark, a sculpture park created by the late artist Nova Mihai Popa and co-founded by Tundra Wolf.
The VIP private preview will run on July 9, and will benefit The Parrish Art Museum and Southampton Hospital. Regular admission to Art Southampton will run from July 10–13, and details will be posted as the event nears. art-southampton.com
