New Additions to the North Fork Dining Scene for Summer 2015

New restaurants and eateries abound on the North Fork! After a day roaming around the bucolic farms and sampling local pours at the wineries, grab a bite to eat at one of the new locales below:

Ammirati’s of Love Lane is a new Mattituck deli. Try “The Chew,” with two eggs, kielbasa and cheese. Dennis McDermott, formerly the proprietor of The Riverhead Project and The Frisky Oyster, is back on the North Fork with American Beech, 300 Main Street, Greenport, a restaurant and inn. The hotel is beach-inspired and the restaurant is casual New American. americanbeechgreenport.com,917-568-2744

The Birchwood of Polish Town, 512 Pulaski Street, Riverhead, has a new owner, Danielle Sessa, but the same chef, Laurie Siebert. The traditional Polish specialties, such as pierogis and kielbasa, and pub fare are now complemented by a number of Italian dishes, including chicken francese and frutti de mare. The East End Mushroom Company has opened its own shop at 22355 County Road 48 in Cutchogue. Their mushrooms have been featured at East End restaurants including Almond, The Frisky Oyster, Grana, Love Lane Kitchen, Nick & Toni’s, noah’s, North Fork Table & Inn, Rowdy Hall, Topping Rose House, Touch of Venice and the Vine Street Café for several years. The owners of the Moriches favorite Greek Bites Grill & Cafe opened a Mattituck location at the 10095 Main Road shopping center in January. Goodfood is a new take-out cafe, bakery and market at 535A Pike Street in Mattituck. It is a joint venture between Ali Katz of Small Batch Baking and Luchi Masliah of Gula Gula Empanadas. Lombardi’s Love Lane Market, 170 Lane Lane, Mattituck, is part of the Long Island-based Lombardi’s group of Italian restaurants, markets and sauce makers. North Fork Chocolate Company, a small business that got its start at Stony Brook University’s Calverton Business Incubator, opened this year in Aquebogue at 740 Main Road, formerly home to Esprit de France. North Fork Roasting Co., a new venture by Jennilee Morris and Jessica Dunne, opened on Valentine’s Day at 55795 Main Road, Southold. In addition to serving its own brand of small-batch coffee, the café serves specialty teas from SerendipiTea in Manhasset and pastries baked on-site. ParaBell Food Bar, from Patchogue, has opened a second location at 65 East Main Street, Riverhead, where Cody’s BBQ & Grill used to be. Two Brothers Take & Bake Pizza, 49 East Main Street, Riverhead, is a new venture with a different concept than other pizzerias: Patrons bake the pizza in their home ovens.
