Southampton Hospital David E. Rogers Center Presented Peter M. Fox Award
The Peter M. Fox Excellence in AAHIVM Credentialing Award from the American Academy of HIV Medicine was presented to the Southampton Hospital David E. Rogers, MD Center in recognition of its service to those afflicted with HIV/AIDS.
Annually, this award is presented to HIV practices where all eligible practitioners currently hold an American Academy of HIV Medicine AAHIVS, AAHIVE or AAHIVP credential.
“Since its founding over 20 years ago, the Center has distinguished itself by offering state-of-the-art medical care and emotional support to patients and their families,” Southampton Hospital President and CEO Robert Chaloner says.
This award was created in the memory of Peter M. Fox, who guided the HIV credentialing program for the Academy for more than five years.
“The East End communities we serve are fortunate to have the David E. Rogers, MD Center and we are very proud of the exceptional and compassionate care that our staff at the Center delivers each day,” Chaloner says.
The Center has also announced the addition of two new services – Hepatitis C Treatment for HIV/HCV Co-infected Patients who are living with both HIV and Hepatitis C will be able to be treated for both diseases at one convenient location, and Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Care.
PrEP will enable people who do not have HIV but are at substantial risk to prevent HIV infection by taking a pill every day.
Free and confidential HIV testing is available by appointment, with results received within 20 minutes.
