Sports Authors Come Out for Dan's Fields of Dreams
Continuing the celebration of great storytelling on the night of the Dan’s Papers Literary Prize for Nonfiction Awards Gala on September 3, the inaugural Dan’s Fields of Dreams event will feature a one-time-only Hamptons lineup of sports authors at Guild Hall, meeting fans and sharing true stories you won’t want to miss (and will surely never forget).
Just two days before college football’s kickoff weekend, the storytellers include Notre Dame football legend Rudy Ruettiger—who inspired the smash film Rudy and continues to inspire everyone from world-champion athletes to corporate leaders as a motivational speaker; former New York Yankees first baseman Joe Pepitone, whose book Joe, You Coulda Made Us Proud has been hailed as “one of the top 20 baseball books ever;” and Dwier Brown, who makes grown men cry playing catch with Kevin Costner at the end of Field of Dreams and tells moving tales of making that classic film and how it continues to change lives 25 years later in his tome If You Build It…
Weeks after he suits up for the 2015 Artists & Writers Softball Game, the evening’s moderator—Westhampton Beach’s own Stephen Costello, Executive Vice President of Steiner Sports and author of one of the best-selling baseball books of all time, My Father Never Took Me to a Baseball Game—rounds out the team.
Seating will be extremely limited for the author roundtable and meet-and-greet autograph and photo session at Guild Hall, and there will also be an exclusive dinner for a select number of guests with Ruettiger, Pepitone, Brown and Costello following the event.
