Hamptons' Best Sports Bars to Watch the Mets Win the World Series
As everyone knows by now, especially if you’ve been reading DansPapers.com, the New York Mets have officially made it into the 2015 World Series. It’s a big moment for Mets fans, who have not seen their team compete in baseball’s greatest contest since they lost to the Yankees in 2000, or win it since beating the Boston Red Sox in the fabled 1986 World Series.
With all this hype and excitement, it seems only natural to watch the Mets out with friends and fellow fans. Lucky for us, the Hamptons has plenty of sports bars—but discerning fans will want to see the Mets win the World Series at Dan’s Best of the Best sports bars.
This year’s nominees are listed below, starting with the bar that has the most votes (as of Thursday, October 22) and descending from there. If your favorite nominee isn’t at the top, it’s time to vote, and vote often—time is running out! Voting for 2015 ends at midnight this Sunday, October 25.
Current leader, Backbar Grille in Hampton Bays (78 Foster Avenue, 631-728-2208 backbargrille.com) sits right on the water and includes a perfect, 25-seat 360-degree bar and a menu loaded with fan-favorite comfort and seafood dishes, such as tacos, shepard’s pie, wings, clams, mac-n-cheese, meatballs and much more. This is a great place to eat an awesome meal and watch a game on the big, flatscreen TVs.
Second place contender, Fellingham’s in Southampton Village (17 Cameron Street, 631-283-9417 fellinghamsrestaurant.com) is the standing Silver winner for Dan’s Best of the Best Sports Bar, and has also been named one of the best bars in America by Esquire magazine. Local funnyman Jimmy Fallon even talked them up on his Twitter account. This place is all about sports. The menu is called “The Sports Page,” sports memorabilia covers the walls—even if much of it is about their local softball team—and the restaurant’s motto is “Where Good Sports Meet.”
Coming up in third, Buckley’s Inn Between in Hampton Bays (139 W Montauk Highway, 631-728-7197 buckleysinnbetween.com) is the standing Silver award-winner for Best of the Best Bar and Gold winner for Sports Bar. With its extensive menu, including Conor burgers, steaks, salads and authentic Irish fare, and big screen TVs, this pub is perfect for watching a game and, if the action slows down, play a game of darts. It’s also where the standing Platinum Best of the Best Bartender, Brandon, works.
Next bar at the plate, Mercado Mexican Grill & Tequila Bar in Bridgehampton (1970 Montauk Highway, 631-237-1334 mercadony.com) offers authentic Mexican fare in a warm rustic atmosphere. And with 75 tequilas and 20 beers on draft, there’s no end to the options for celebrating wins or drowning the sorrow of defeat.
Built in 1888 as a produce store, The Driver’s Seat in Southampton (62 Jobs Lane, 631-283-6606 thedriversseatrestaurant.com) eventually became a restaurant in 1960 and quickly became a hangout for the auto racing set who drove at the Bridgehampton racetrack. Now it’s an excellent local spot to enjoy a burger or a delicious specialty sandwich while watching your favorite team play ball.
