East Hampton Library to Screen 'Goodfellas,' Discuss Lufthansa Heist
2015 is the 25th anniversary year of Martin Scorsese’s acclaimed film Goodfellas, and East Hampton Library will mark the occasion with a special screening and talk on Sunday, November 22.
Following the screening at noon, author Daniel Simone will take part in a Q&A with Ed McDonald, the former U.S. attorney who prosecuted the 1978 Lufthansa robbery case, which was a central plot point in Goodfellas. McDonald played himself in the film. Dan’s Papers founder and President Dan Rattiner will moderate the discussion.
Simone co-wrote The Lufthansa Heist: Behind the Six-Million-Dollar Cash Haul That Shook the World with Henry Hill, the mobster-turned-FBI-informant who Ray Liotta portrays in Goodfellas. Hill died in 2012 but the book was not released until August of this year.
The day before the screening, Saturday, November 21, at 5 p.m., Simone will have a book signing at Harbor Books in Sag Harbor.
