Sip the Best of the Best Cappuccino on the East End
Only two ingredients are needed to make cappuccino: espresso and milk. It sounds simple enough, but it takes a real master to make a great cup. That’s why, in the annual Dan’s Best of the Best awards, Dan’s Papers readers voted for their favorite cafes and restaurants to enjoy cappuccino. On the North Fork and in the Hamptons, these are the top picks.

Winner of Dan’s Best of the Best cappuccino platinum award in the Hamptons is Hampton Coffee Company (749 County Road 39A, Southampton; 631-353-3088, hamptoncoffeecompany.com). Get your cappuccino fix and enjoy freshly-baked treats. “Our coffee is roasted a bit darker than most coffees on the East Coast, but not too dark, so that the full flavor potential is realized and that bitter taste is avoided,” Hampton Coffee boasts.
Sant Ambroeus (30 Main Street, Southampton; 631-283-1233, santambroeus.com) was awarded the gold title. Enjoy a cappuccino in their posh Southampton Village location and don’t forget to pick up some sweet treats while you are there.
Silver winner The Village Gourmet Cheese Shoppe (11 Main Street, Southampton; 631-283-6949, villagecheeseshoppe.com) offers much more than just cheese! Village Cheese has an extensive menu, along with a wide range of gourmet products, such as coffee, cappuccino, espresso, teas, breakfast items and snacks.
Starbucks (39 Main Street, East Hampton; 631-329-8645, starbucks.com) rounds out the winners with the bronze.
North Fork Roasting Co. (55795 Main Road, Southold; 631-876-5450, noforoastingco.com) is a small batch craft coffee roastery and cafe opened by Jennilee Morris and Jessica Dunne in 2014. The new kid on the block is already earning accolades, including the Dan’s Best of the Best platinum award for cappuccino on the North Fork.
Aldo’s (103-105 Front Street, Greenport; 631-477-6300, aldos.com) took gold for bestcappuccino. Aldo Maiorana, who has lived all over the world but since 1978 has called the East End home, roasts Italian-style coffee. Have a cup at his café or pick up a bag of By Aldo coffee beans to take home and enjoy.
A Touch of Venice (28350 Main Road, Mattituck; 631-298-5851, touchofvenice.com) is an Italian restaurant with an authentic Italian cappuccino. A Touch of Venice’s achieved silver on the North Fork.
Love Lane Kitchen (Love Lane, Mattituck; 631-298-8989, lovelanekitchen.com) earned many Best of the Best awards in 2015, including platinum for best coffee, eagles, brunch, health food and more. Love Lane Kitchen won bronze for cappuccino.
