Alexis Fotopolous Scores 2,000 Points for Hampton Bays
Hampton Bays High School basketball star Alexis Fotopolous hit another career milestone last month after reaching her 2,000th career point during a January 21 home game against Miller Place.
Fotopolous is now one of only 21 girls in the history of Suffolk County girls’ high school basketball to have achieved this impressive number of points.
“This is a great accomplishment for Alexis—she has worked very hard over the years to develop her skills and game,” said Drew Walker, Hampton Bays High School’s director of health, physical education and athletics. “She has contributed so much to the Hampton Bays basketball program and helped lift the team to compete at a higher level.”
In addition to her new record, Fotopolous, a senior and six-year veteran of the Lady Baymen basketball team, also holds the title of Hampton Bays’ all-time leading point scorer. She served as a starter on two Section XI Class B Championship teams and has also participated in the Elks Club’s Foul Shooting Competition. Additionally, she has competed on several youth league teams.
In early November, Fotopolous signed a National Letter of Intent to attend and play basketball for Adelphi University in Garden City next fall.
