ARF Joins Long Island’s Best! Pet Adoption Expo Saturday
On Saturday, April 30, the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, or ARF, of Wainscott will join seven other Long Island animal shelters and not-for-profit rescues to present Long Island’s Best! Pet Adoption Expo.
Among the shelters participating in the event are Calverton’s Kent Animal Shelter, Northport Cat Rescue Association, Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter, Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter, Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter and Best Friends Animal Society, the nation’s largest no-kill companion animal sanctuary—all bringing furry friends for adoption into forever homes.
The event will have more than 100 cats and dogs available for adoption, each one already spayed or neutered, vaccinated and checked by a veterinarian. Each lucky animal will also go home with a free collar and leash for dogs, or a cardboard carrier for cats.
Saturday is expected to be sunny and beautiful, making the expo a wonderful family outing that should be fun for adults and kids alike. Admission is free, though adoption fees apply. The event was made possible from a grant from Maddie’s Fund, which offers grants to no-kill animal shelters that work with community collaborations of veterinarians, rescue groups, traditional shelters and animal control agencies nationwide.
ARF was founded in 1974 and has since been dedicated to rescuing and caring for cats and dogs until they find a loving home. They have stood by their no-kill policy, giving each animal as much love and attention it needs.
“Long Island’s Best! Pet Adoption Expo” will take place on Saturday from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. at the Commack Petco (30 Veterans Memorial Highway).
