20 Things to Do Before Memorial Day in the Hamptons: Get Fit for Summer
Memorial Day (Monday, May 30) and the official start of the East End’s busy summer season is around the corner, so now’s the time to take advantage of all the special things that will be nonexistent or difficult to enjoy in the Hamptons once the crowds arrive from points west.
We continue our countdown of 20 things to do before Memorial Day in the Hamptons with:
#12: Get Fit for Summer
Making sure our bodies look good for the beach days ahead is a no-brainer, especially in the weeks and months leading up to Memorial Day. While the next 12 days won’t allow for a complete physical overhaul, it could certainly make a dent and get you on the right path before things get too busy to establish disciplined routines. Just 10 days of solid workouts and proper nutrition can improve your looks, confidence and physical endurance so summertime athletics, or even casual walks on the beach, are that much more fun—or that much less painful.
Some are strong enough to head down this difficult road on their own, but most folks will struggle with working so hard and making so many changes in such a short amount of time. That’s why joining a regular fitness class, where there’s a schedule and accountability, or finding a good personal trainer could make the difference between success and failure. Unfortunately, both of these fitness luxuries become a lot more scarce after May 30, so now’s the time to find one or the other (or both!). If you’re an established member of a class or have a relationship with the right trainer in place, no one can take that away once schedules begin filling up.
Check out your local gym or more specialized facility for trainers and classes—we’ve got plenty here in the Hamptons.
