In other recent Billy Joel news, the Piano Man sold out the first show at the brand new Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in less than four minutes on Friday, October 14. The sell-out was one of the quickest selling concerts ever at the venue, which is reopening with this first show on April 5, 2017 after undergoing an extensive renovation. Joel played the old Nassau Coliseum’s final show on August 4, 2015 with an unforgettable three-hour concert.
The April 5 concert will be Joel’s 33rd at the Coliseum. He sold out nine shows in 1998, which set the venue’s record for the most sellouts in one year. A banner will continue to hang in the rafters to honor of that success, just as it did prior to the Coliseum’s renovation.
