Check out what your favorite Hamptonites are up to on the small screen and beyond.
Water Mill’s Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are teaming up for a new TV project. The dynamic entertainment duo will develop the soon-to-be-released book, Geek Girl Rising: Inside the Sisterhood Shaking Up Tech, as a scripted series. The book, by journalists Heather Cabot and Samantha Walravens, explores how female entrepreneurs are making their mark in the largely male-driven tech industry. Ripa and Consuelos will serve as executive producers of the series.
South Fork foodie Martha Stewart appeared on The Dr. Oz Show last Wednesday to discuss her latest cookbook, A New Way to Bake: Classic Recipes with Better-for-You Ingredients from the Modern Pantry. The book, out this week, offers bakers 130 redone recipes for classic cookies, cakes, pies and more.
After 13 seasons, Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo went behind the camera. The Sag Harbor resident made her directorial debut on the popular ABC drama with last week’s tearjerker episode. When asked why she waited so long to take the director’s chair, Pompeo told Variety, “We never can tell the way we’ll evolve—emotionally or spiritually or creatively, you never know how you’ll evolve and what will interest you creatively.”
Several South Fork fashion VIPs helped celebrate Macy’s CEO Terry Lundgren in a ceremony at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) last week. Along with Anna Wintour, Ralph Lauren presented Lundgren with an award, while Sean “Diddy” Combs, Tory Burch, Vera Wang and John Varvatos shared congratulatory video messages. The event benefited the FIT Foundation, the school’s fundraising component.
