Team E.V.A. to Run Seven Marathons in Seven Days for Charity
Eva Casale of Team E.V.A. (Every Veteran Appreciated) is going to be running seven marathons in seven days to raise awareness and money for the Hope for the Warriors organization, a nonprofit that provides support for service members, veterans and military families. She’s asking the Long Island community to join her cause.
For the suggested donation of $50, you’ll receive a special tee shirt, a medal and access to run in any or all of the seven 26.2-mile runs throughout April 22-28. If that number sounds too daunting, you can join in at the checkpoint for the last seven-mile stretch on any given day. If not, you can push yourself to complete the week’s 184 miles alongside Team E.V.A. This unique marathon will also include visits to military homes and memorials along the way, so you shouldn’t miss a single day.
Here’s a summarized agenda for the week, so you can plan accordingly:
The event will kick off on Saturday with opening ceremonies at the Elks Lodge in Huntington at 9 a.m. The first day is dedicated to Gold Star Families for Peace, those who lost family members in the Iraq War. The track will go through Greenlawn, Centerport and Northport, ending at Elijah Churchill’s Public House.
Sunday is dedicated to all veterans: past, present and future. The run begins at 9 a.m. at the Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, after paying respects to the fallen heroes. The track will go through Lindenhurst and West Babylon.
