It’s Super Saturday in the Hamptons
With all the benefits and events that fill our summertime weekends, Super Saturday 14 is by far on everyone’s favorites list. Spending an entire day at this fun-filled, family-oriented, daylong fundraiser for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF)—once dubbed “the Rolls Royce of garage sales”—is now a much-anticipated shopping extravaganza!
This year, Emma Roberts and Kelly Ripa, along with Donna Karan, Ariel Foxman and InStyle magazine, will host the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s 14th Annual Super Saturday on July 30, 2011 at Nova’s Ark Project, 60 Millstone Road in Water Mill, from 1 to 6 p.m., with a special preview hour beginning at noon. Donna Karan, the late Liz Tilberis and OCRF’s President Faith Kates Kogan created Super Saturday in 1998. Karan has underwritten the event since its founding and all net proceeds go directly to OCRF’s research programs. InStyle has been a sponsor and host of Super Saturday since 2001, and once again, OCRF has joined forces with leading multimedia retailer QVC to make this exciting event available to shoppers nationwide. A special treat, broadcasting live from 2 to 4 p.m., “QVC Presents Super Saturday Live” will offer viewers the chance to purchase a variety of products including apparel, accessories, jewelry and beauty needs with net proceeds benefiting OCRF. In 2010, Super Saturday raised over $3.4 million for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
This infamous fashion garage setting is so breathtaking, with bright colored grass umbrellas that shade the tables of designer samples, dresses, skirts, tops, shoes, jewelry, accessories, home products for ladies, men and children from over 200 prominent designers and participants including: Donna Karan, Urban Zen, Theory, Alice+Olivia, Betsey Johnson, Brooks Brothers, Calvin Klein, Eileen Fisher, Elie Tahari, Catherine Malandrino, Christopher Fischer, Juicy Couture, Fresh, Intermix, Lacoste, Clarins, Jimmy Choo, Pratesi, Robert Rodriguez, Banana Republic, French Connection, Dyson, Diane von Furstenberg, Elizabeth & James, Haute Hippie and Ralph Lauren. For the fourth consecutive year, the “Designers A to Zoe” booth by Rachel Zoe will feature luxury designers such as Kara Ross, Rag & Bone, Marc Jacobs, Elise Overland, Jean Paul Gaultier and Etro, just to mention a few.
In addition to the incredible shopping, Super Saturday 14 offers attendees an afternoon of indulgences including the Votre Vu French Spa Station featuring anti-aging skin treatments and samplings of their self-preserving sunblock; a place to relax and rejuvenate at the InStyle Cabana; the Color Club Color Bar offering guests manicures and nail art; the Aruba Happy Lounge featuring Aruba Aloe hand massages and a chance to win a four-night stay in Aruba; the www.Piperlime.com photo tent and the @Home Market filled with designer vignettes featuring unique furniture and one-of-a-kind pieces by Traditional Home Magazine, One Kings Lane and the New York Design Center all for sale at awesome prices. And, for the first time this year, Charity Buzz will be hosting a special Super Saturday auction with amazing one-of-a-kind VIP experiences, celebrity meet-and-greets and so much more! Bidding will be live at the event or at www.charitybuzz.com/supersaturday.
On the local scene at Super Saturday, Minnie Rose will participate in the fundraising event to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. Minnie Rose designer Lisa Shaller Goldberg will be available for comment on the Minnie Rose brand, which is a perfect fit for the Hamptons lifestyle with light-weight cashmere pieces in bright vivid colors. Minnie Rose focuses on classic silhouettes that are flattering and stylish in a timeless way. Minnie Rose is sold in the Hamptons at boutiques such as Summer Stock, Intermix, Obligato, Norah’s, Gloria Jewel, Blue & Cream, etc.
Another exciting escapade: Lisa Perry’s POP-Up Mob will be stopping by Super Saturday with 20 girls in tow, all wearing Lisa Perry girls apparel. It should make for a fun spectacle; so if you have your camera, shoot it!
On the kid’s end, there are rides, games and arts and crafts galore. This summer at “Camp Divalysscious,” kids can enjoy Wendy the Pipe Cleaner Lady, face painting, balloon artistry, s’more-making and special performances from Miss Pinkie and Moey’s Music Party. Space Odyssey East will roll out the hottest video games available to play in the arcade mecca.
Take my advice, wear light clothing, bring a sun hat and/or parasol, sunglasses, comfortable shoes and a spray bottle filled with cool water to refresh yourself and get a good night’s sleep the night before…and enjoy! You can really Shop ‘til You Drop here for sure! I go home every year exhausted but very, very happy with all of my many purchases and early holiday gifts. It’s like “Christmas in July.” Thank goodness I only live right down the road.
Ticket prices for Super Saturday 14 are $450 (regular) or $650 (preview) for adults and $150 for kids ages 5-16 (kids under 5 are admitted free). The preview ticket includes access to an exclusive shopping hour from noon – 1 p.m., as well as a gift bag.
