Sitting In Southampton, Watching Tim Tebow Take Over the World
It sort of was football heaven for me over the weekend. Eli Manning and the New York Giants beat the Falcons and Tim Tebow, once again, silenced all of his haters by throwing for over 300 yards to win in overtime against the Steelers. (Sorry to you Steeler fans out there, but Ben Roethlisberger just looked awful, almost cartoonish playing yesterday. The guy looked like a giant hamburger on the field.)
Last night while watching the Denver Broncos game become something magical, I was at my friend Tom’s house in North Sea, and Tom was wearing a New England Patriots sweatshirt. As fate would have it, week the Denver Broncos will face the New England Patriots.
Yes, Hamptonites, there are plenty of folks out here who are Boston Red Sox fans and New England Patriots fans, and one of the greatest pleasures in life is watching those teams lose. I’m a New York Jets fan (although I don’t dislike the Giants), and I hate the Patriots. I’m also a HUGE Tim Tebow fan, and as I sat watching the game with Tom last night I couldn’t help but crack a smile.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Patriots fans are terrified of Tim Tebow and his Denver Broncos. Yesterday, Tom made his best effort to pretend that he was happy that Denver won, but deep down I could tell he was just lying to himself. All of you New England fans out there claiming to be happy about facing Tebow Time, you’re lying to yourselves, too. Surely, if you had a choice, you’d rather be facing the Steelers.
