Locals Garner Financial Support For The Sag Harbor Windmill, Mysterious Donor Gives $9,000
Save Sag Harbor, an organization formed to protect Sag Harbor from big chain stores from entering the town so that local business can continue to thrive, has been having a matching blade drive to replace the cost of repairing the Windmill Blade in Sag Harbor. A mysterious benefactor who heard about the problems with the Sag Harbor Windmill that is in need of repair has donated $9,000 toward the final three blades.
Thanks to local support, Save Sag Harbor raised $5,453. $3,000 of that is the replacement cost of a new blade and the remaining $2,453 will go toward other needed windmill repairs. Save Sag Harbor and its board donated $1,500 which was then matched by people in who live and work in Sag Harbor.
The entire total money raised for the Windmill since the campaign has raised $18,484. However, the cost of the repairs remains to be higher.
