East Hampton Police Release Report About Fatal Car Accident

INCIDENT: Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident
LOCATION: Intersection of Rt. 27 and So. Fox St., Montauk
Time: July 4, 2012 at 9:16 p.|n.
East Hampton Town Police Dept. detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash in Montauk that claimed the life of a Montauk woman and seriously injured another.
Thomas Gubitosi was operating a 2012 Ford pickup westbound on Route 27 in Montauk when his vehicle collided with a 2007 Toyota operated by Suzanne Lavenas, who was driving east bound on Route 27 and attempting to make a left turn on to So. Fox Street.
Lavenas,69, of Edgemeree Avenue, Montauk, was transported by Montauk Ambulance to Southampton Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The sole passenger in the Toyota, Frances Berg, 88, of So. Fairbanks Road, Montauk, was transported to Southampton Hospital by Montnuk Ambulance where she is listed in serious condition.
Gubitosi, 48, of Sterns Ct., Farmingdale, was transported to Southampton Hospital by Amagansett Ambulance where he was treated and later released.
