Shaking Off My Fiscal Cliff Fears By Caring About Things That Don't Matter
It’s al over the news, I’m terrified, your terrified, but you probably know somebody in your world that isn’t all that concerned about the economic super crisis that is brewing on a global scale.
You and I both know that the fiscal cliff is just a buzz word, and the reality is that it’s a very small piece of the overall economic pie, and the real giant in the room that is looming before us is what George Soros as dubbed, “Super Bubble.”
With that being said, it’s just so much more fun to simply have no idea what the hell is going on. I’ve spoken to quite a few of my friends and family recently about the economy, and all of them really could care less about the fiscal cliff. They know it’s bad, but that’s about as far as it goes, and then we go back to discussing what’s really important, like sports or what we’re all doing for New Year’s Eve. (By the way, if you haven’t planned anything yet, we put together an awesome list of parties that are happening in the Hamptons regarding New Year’s).
It suddenly hit me that all I have to do to not worry about stagflation or an economic collapse is to simply pretend that things like, well writing this blog for example, are more important. We as people like to focus on things that we can control and that have no real consequences, and when it comes to the big decisions that we really need to worry about, well that’s just left up to the universe half the time. “Everything happens for a reason, but let me tell you something, I’m really worried that I’m not going to be able to get that day off so we can go skiing. We really have to think about how I’m going to catch up with you later in the day. Call me.”
That pretty much sums it up. The value of money in your pocket? A looming economic crisis? No need to worry about that, it’s beyond my understanding. Instead, I’m really angry that my friend posted that comment on Facebook!
