Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Riverhead Accident
A man was seriously injured while walking on East Main Street Monday afternoon when he was struck by a car.
Riverhead police said they responded to the intersection of East Main Street and Howell Avenue at 5:02 p.m. and found 63-year-old Daniel Locastro, of Riverhead, lying in the roadway. He was struck by a 2001 Hyundai, which 76-year-old Riverhead resident Barbara Guerin had been driving westbound, according to police.
Locastro was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead by Riverhead Town Volunteer Ambulance Corps and later transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital.
Police said it was determined Locastro walked out into the road before he was hit and no criminal charged are expected in relation to the accident.
