Sag Harbor Rum is the newest addition to the Hamptons beverage scene, having made its debut in liquor stores May 1. This rum stands apart from its mass-produced brethren, with a distinctive taste that is the result of an infusion of spices and fruits and of being aged in bourbon barrels. Served neat, the rum is smooth and enjoyable to sip. On the rocks, more of the spice flavors come through. It is a perfect summer drink that can also complement your dinner. For a map of stores, bars and restaurants that carry Sag Harbor Rum, and for suggested drink recipes, visit sagharborrum.com.
You don’t have to choose between spraying your family with chemicals and letting the onslaught of mosquitoes at dusk drive your summer fun indoors. There is a new alternative out of Sag Harbor. Founder Julia Bitton has introduced Dr. Fedorenko True Organic Bug Stick and Bug Bar. These hydrating lotions infused with essential oils smell much better than bug spray and are all-natural. The Bug Bar comes in a tin convenient for pocket or purse. The Bug Stick actually resembles a stick of deodorant, but this convenient way to roll-on protection all over will repel mosquitoes, ticks, gnats, horseflies and more for up to four hours.
