Incumbent U.S. Representative Tim Bishop and challenger Lee Zeldin, a New York State senator, will debate Tuesday, October 28, at the Suffolk Community College Eastern Campus in Riverhead.
Bishop, a Democrat and a Southampton resident, is serving his sixth consecutive term in Congress. Zeldin, of Shirley, is a Republican, and has been elected to the state Senate twice. Zeldin also challenged Bishop in 2008.
The candidates have been polling neck and neck.
The debate, which is organized by the college, will begin at 3 p.m. in the Shinnecock Building Lecture Hall, 121 Speonk-Riverhead Road, Riverhead.
