Peconic Landing Administrator Receives Leadership Award

Gregory J. Garrett, the executive vice president and administrator of health services at Peconic Landing, won the Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award from the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) for his work at the Greenport retirement community.
“He puts residents’ health and satisfaction first and is always looking for new and innovative ways to improve the resident experience,” said Robert J. Syron, the president and chief executive officer of Peconic Landing.
The award considers a candidate’s volunteerism and leadership, along with three years of data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Garrett, who joined Peconic Landing in 2006, “quickly defined himself as a leader within the organization,” Syron said. Under Garrett, Peconic Landing has maintained a five-star quality rating, the highest possible rating, for the past 20 consecutive quarters.
CMS evaluates data on nearly 16,000 nursing homes across the country, and Garrett is one of 257 administrators to be recognized nationally.
“Advancing leadership excellence is at the core of our mission,” said Marianna Grachek the president and chief executive officer of the ACHCA. “There is a close relationship between facility leadership and quality outcomes.”
