Women’s Fund of Long Island to Honor Patricia Arquette
This Saturday, June 6, the Women’s Fund of Long Island (WFLI) will host a benefit to celebrate “young women changemakers,” and Sag Harbor’s Donna Karan will present an award to actress Patricia Arquette.
WFLI will hold a cocktail reception from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton. The event will offer an opportunity for guests to partner with WFLI’s network of over 300 local organizations who work together to create change in their communities.
The funds raised will be put toward GirlsFLI, a program that brings together high school girls from diverse socioeconomic, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds from all over Long Island. GirlsFLI works to empower girls and young women while providing them with the tools to confront important issues in their communities and their lives, including gang violence, self-esteem, bullying, drugs, human trafficking and poverty. The program teaches youth how to collaborate together in ways to create strategies for change, helping to equip young women with leadership skills, confidence, and a sense of their own involvement, their own roles, in stimulating lasting change for the future.
Tickets for the event can be purchased for $250 at eventbrite.com/e/summer-kick-off-we-are-the-change-tickets-16519597561
