Republican presidential hopeful and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush made a swing through the Hamptons Saturday for three fundraisers in East Hampton, reportedly courting both GOP and Democratic donors.
Bloomberg Politics reported money manager Kenneth Lipper, a Democrat, co-hosted one of the trio of fundraisers. Lipper told Bloomberg that event alone raised $230,000 for Bush’s campaign. Financial advisor Martin Shafiroff co-hosted the brunch event.
Following brunch, Bush made stops at lunch and dinner events. According to Page Six, former Assistant US Treasury Secretary Emil W. Henry Jr. and Bruce Mosler hosted those latter two fundraisers.
The buzz is that Bush will be back for more Hamptons weekends before the 2016 election. The well-moneyed area is also a favorite vacation spot of Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton. Neither will likely have time to enjoy Hamptons beaches this summer or next, when there is fundraising to be done behind the hedgerows.
