Every Labor Day for the past 67 years the Shinnecock Indian Nation has held its powwow, which this year is the largest powwow on the East Coast with tribes participating such as the Lakota from the Dakotas and Central American Aztecs. The powwow featured more than 100 vendors, Native American food, and singing and dancing. Tribal members work on their regalia all year to prepare for the powwow dance and song competitions, displaying their skills with beading, leather and feathers.
