East End Studio Tour & Luncheon
Marjorie Silverman, J. Whitney Stevens and Carol Ross hosted an intimate tour of artist studios on Long Island’s East End to benefit the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) on Friday, August 5, 2016. Led by Christina Mossaides Strassfield, Museum Director/Chief Curator at Guild Hall, the group visited the studios of artists Mary Ellen Bartley, Mia Fonssagrives-Solow, Toni Ross, and Claire Watson. The tour concluded with a seated lunch at the private residence of Marjorie and David Silverman with catering by celebrity chef Gabe Kennedy with Oliver English.
“The NYFA Studio Tour was a wonderful opportunity to meet and converse with a core group of NYFA’s supporters,” stated artist Claire Watson and continued to say that, “as a NYFA Fellow and Panelist, I’d like to express my gratitude for their support of NYFA’s programs for all individual artists, and for their insights and words of encouragement in my studio during the tour.”
“The sun brilliantly illuminated the gracious, expansive grounds and the long elegant setup for the luncheon on the porch overlooking the green lawn was an invitation to conversation and a delicious repast,” expressed artist Joan Semmel, who had been part of the East End Studio tour in the past.
50 guests attended the intimate affair including:
Jane Cranston, Sally Egbert, Angela Smith Domzal, Joan Semmel, Sharon Held, Marjorie Martay, Christopher French, Joe Zucker, Patricia Drake Snyder, Joel Perlman, Jennifer Chaiken
Tickets and donations raised from the event will support NYFA’s programs for artists throughout Long Island and New York State, include Artists’ Fellowships grants, in-depth professional development boot camps, and online resources.
