Debra Messing Teases 'Will & Grace' Plot, Attends Mariska Hargitay Event
Debra Messing has dropped some hints about how Will & Grace will return later this year. As fans of the beloved sitcom know, the series finale showed Will and Grace having an irreconcilable fight and not speaking for nearly 20 years. Since the show ended 11 years ago, fans have been wondering how the show will address the dramatic conclusion.
Messing appeared on The Bill Carter Interview on Sirius XM Radio recently. According to NewNowNext, Messing said, “All I know is that I was told that they’ve come up with a very creative way of dealing with how the show ended. So it will be 11 years later.” Messing also gave some teases about the show’s stories. “[We’ll talk about social issues, political issues and be outrageous. And it seemed like there literally is no better time than right now for this kind of show that’s already welcomed, to come back and to try to make people think the way that we did 10 years ago.” Will & Grace returns this fall.
In other Messing news, the ABC adaptation of Dirty Dancing premiered on ABC and received a largely negative response. Critics slammed the three-hour broadcast for toning down the grittiness of the original film, as well as adding boring subplots—including one involving Messing’s character, Marjorie, who is upset that she hasn’t been intimate with her husband, Jake (played by Bruce Greenwood) in almost a year. Criticism was also leveled at the lack of chemistry between Baby (Abigail Breslin) and Johnny (Colt Prattes).
But enough negativity! Earlier this week, Messing attended the Joyful Revolution Gala, which was hosted by East Ender Mariska Hargitay’s Joyful Heart Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to “transform society’s response to sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse and support survivors’ healing.” Check out a photo of Messing and Hargitay below.
