August 9, 2018, 4 pm6 pm.

Description:

What would Southampton’s Gilded Age mansions have been without those gorgeous antique rugs with their elaborate patterns and jewel-like colors? As part of the museum’s summer focus on the Gilded Age, Hans Boujaran will share his expertise on antique rugs, revealing the hidden meanings in their design and offering some history on how they were made and by whom. A designer of rugs himself, Mr. Boujaran has traveled the world pursuing his passion for the art of rug design. Of particular interest will be his tour through the museum, offering insights along the way on the many beautiful rugs that enhance its interior. This lecture is part of the Southampton Historical Museum’s four part “Gilded Age Lecture Series,” each lecture is $10 or $30 for all four lectures, free for members and children.
