Going Behind the Scenes at 8 Hands Farm
Join Peconic Land Trust for a walking tour of this multi-faceted, sustainable family farm in Cutchogue where Icelandic sheep happily graze open fields, heritage chickens enjoy cage-free lives, and Tamworth pigs are allowed to be “piggish.” The Geppel family’s 2011 purchase of this 28-acre farm through the Trust’s “Farms for the Future Initiative” has transformed the land into a thriving operation. Along with fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, and grass-fed meat, their on-site farmstand offers luxurious handmade yarn and other fiber products. Meet Tom, Carol, and their two children, take a walk by the pastures, and learn more about the challenges and rewards of working the land. Food truck will be on site for lunch!
$5/person, space is limited, reservations required. Rain cancels.
