Sculpture on the Trail – an art and nature exhibit
The Center for Environmental Education and Discovery (CEED) is partnering with Inspiration Plus to host SCULPTURE on the TRAIL on Saturday, August 20th at the Washington Lodge in Brookhaven Hamlet. Seventeen international artists, will have their sculptures installed on a one-half-mile trail through Suffolk County forest preserve. Employing a wide range of materials, with some incorporating performance, the sculptors’ work can be discovered in the twists and turns of the shaded trail, in and amongst the animals and trees. There will be an interactive component as well, as the public is invited to participate in attaching thoughts, art, or words to artist Dan Welden’s “Y” shaped sculpture on opening day.
Local poets will also be performing at the event, some inspired by the works of art, others by what moves them in the natural world.
Food and drink will be available for purchase, and there will be opportunity to purchase artists’ catalogs. SCULPTURE on the TRAIL is open to the public free of charge. For more information, go to ceedli.org/sculpture-on-the-trail.
