A Visit with WPPB Host Laurence Maslon
The music of Broadway is one of America’s most unique and popular calling cards. Fueled by best-selling original cast albums, it rose to prominence and helped shape American popular culture. In Broadway to Main Street: How Show Tunes Enchanted America, author and WPPB host Laurence Maslon tells how the songs of Broadway made their way from the Theater District to living rooms across the country by way of records, television and Top-40 radio, and how the music has endured. Mr. Maslon is the host and producer of the radio series “Broadway to Main Street,” which airs every Sunday at 3:00 p.m. on Long Island’s only NPR station 88.3 WPPB-FM.
