After School on the Farm

After a long day spent at school enjoy the many benefits of the farm.
Students will experience farm life, receive animal education and learn about sustainability while interacting with and feeding goats, sheep, chickens, donkeys, horses, pigs & rabbits. The animal educator teaches age appropriate lessons for students ranging from Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Our educational programs are based on agriculture, animal sciences and environmental sciences.

Animal Science: Engage young minds through a unique educational program of animal connection. Learn fun facts from our animal educator as well as through exciting hands-on interactions while feeding and touching our animals. Our animals include horses, a donkey, goats, sheep, chickens, guinea hens, bunnies, cats and potbelly pigs.

Environmental Sciences: Discuss the importance of saving energy, recycling, composting and ways to better care for our planet. Become green thinkers and learn the value of showing kindness to our environment all while surrounded by the furry friends on the farm. Students will rotate through the different stations including our organic garden, our worm farm, composts and see how we utilize our animal spill and turn it into soil.

From Egg to Chicken: This engaging topic brings the life cycle to life for children. Through hands-on interaction with hens or chicks, as well as searching the coop for eggs. Explore the life cycle of the chicken and discover how the embryo develops inside the egg.

Butterflies: Students will observe the different stages in the butterfly life cycle. A walk through our organic gardens will allow for a visit with our butterfly friends and chance to quietly observe these beautiful creatures in their natural environment. (Late May through September only)

Worm Garden: Gain a better understanding of how these amazing creatures benefit our gardens and soil. An introduction to composting and the role worms can play in this process is reviewed. As well as hands-on interaction with these little critters. (Late May through September only)
