Join author Renata Kobetts Miller for an evening of discussion accompanied by slides of Victorian-era artwork, stage productions, and archival photos.
Professor Kobetts shares her research on the pivotal importance of Victorian actresses as influencers of British society outside the home and as fictionalized characters in the popular novels of the day by writers from Charles Dickens to Henry James and George Eliot. Her talk will encompass the actress as feminist, muse, and rebel from the 1800´s to the #MeToo movement of today.
Renata Kobetts Miller is a professor of English Literature and Deputy Dean of Humanities and Arts at the City College of New York.
