Cabaret – HOUSEWIVES’ CANTATA -reboot
In 1974, when composer-lyricist-poet, Mira J. Spektor, and lyricist June Siegel created The Housewives’ Cantata, the Feminist movement was in its infancy. Revisiting the original production, Ms. Spektor’s new ‘reboot’ of the show not only celebrates the momentum toward equal rights for women, but also reflects on what has – and has not – been accomplished in subsequent decades thanks to the addition of seven songs from Ms. Spektor’s more recent productions, Villa Diodati, Ladies of Romance, Give Me Time, and Giovanni the Fearless. This is Ms. Spektor’s 13th season at the Montauk Library. Return engagement for Karen Jolicoeur, soprano; Lars Woodhul, baritone; Bill Lewis, pianist-director; and Mira J. Spektor, composer.
