Fun & Games with Bach’s GOLDBERG VARIATIONS
Johann Sebastian Bach is regarded as a severe composer, focused on religious redemption and the immortal soul, but his popular Goldberg Variations are something of an anomaly. They are full of humor, tricks, and even slightly bawdy references, along with some of the most sublime music ever written. Superb classical pianist and lecturer, Katherine Addleman returns to the Montauk Library to perform a selection of pieces from The Goldberg Variations and discuss the distinctive features of each one. Ms. Addleman performs frequently in the U.S. and Canada and she is well regarded for her lecture-performances of works by great composers
