Jews on Long Island’s East End with Karl Grossman
Karl Grossman, whose paternal grandparents settled in Sag Harbor more than a century ago, will discuss the history of Jews on the East End and their places of worship including the oldest synagogue on Long Island, Temple Adas Israel in Sag Harbor; the Jewish Center of the Hamptons in East Hampton; Congregation Tifereth Israel in Greenport; the North Fork Reform Synagogue in Cutchogue; the Conservative Synagogue of the Hamptons in Bridgehampton and Temple Israel in Riverhead. He will also talk about the chabads in Southampton, East Hampton, and Sag Harbor. He will explore the variety that exists among the various Jewish communities and how their distinct characteristics have influenced their history.
