Jamesport, NY – A celebration of two prominent East End, Long Island artists will be held on October 11th, 2019 at the William Ris Gallery in Jamesport. Both Forks will be represented in the show titled NEVERLANDS.

North Fork’s Meghan Boody and Hamptons’ Jeff Muhs will be exhibiting together for the first time. The opening reception commences at 6pm.

Mary Cantone, owner and director of the William Ris Gallery, says, “Having both art communities converge in Jamesport has been a goal of mine since relocating to New York in 2016. Meghan and Jeff’s work make the perfect synergistic exhibition.”

NEVERLANDS invites the viewer to go where they have never been before. Both visionary artists with a pioneering spirit, Boody and Muhs create worlds and objects that challenge our normal sense of perception. Sweeping map-like terrains (Muhs) and twilight zones of the uncanny (Boody) combine to create a destabilizing sense of wonder.

Meghan Boody has long been fascinated by the mystery of how human beings change and evolve. Her work revolves around this hidden process, exploring how loss and struggle often play a role in personal growth. Boody’s images aim to capture moments along the way of this behind-the-scenes journey.

Storytelling, role-playing, costuming and lots of Photoshop all come into play in the creation of Boody’s composited images. Her work revolves around this hidden process, exploring how loss and struggle often play a role in personal growth.

Jeff Muhs creates visual dynamics between atmospheric phenomenat and cognition. Bold black and white brushstrokes builds intensity in the background as color fields in the foreground soothes and creates a calming experience.

Muhs achieves this seemingly perfect balance of activity and calmness through gestural brushstrokes, pouring, dripping and smearing paint.

A collection of Jeff’s designed furniture will be included in this diverse exhibition.

There will be an artist talk on Saturday, November 2nd, 1-3pm. Meet and enjoy their backstories and inspiration behind Meghan and Jeff’s work.

NEVERLANDS will run through Sunday, November 9th.

The following show at William Ris Gallery ANGLES will highlight work by photographers Ecindy Stein and Mike McLaughlin. The subject is iconic interiors and exteriors of NYC and opens on November 16th.
