“Racing Daylight” Poetry Reading with Susan Baran
The Amagansett Library presents Susan Baran reading from her ner book of poetry Racing Daylight.
The flat land and water of eastern Long Island, where she lives are constantly stirring in Susan Baran’s Racing Daylight. “Read the clouds / the battles of I the seasons,” she advises. “So much action / something always / in motion. We register I what we can- ” and must: “It all calls for / our attention.” And then, “We move through I the world, it moves / through us.” Seldom has the life of poetry coincided so congruently with the life we are trying to live, even as it lives us. Her poetry transfixes and illuminates this mutual act. What’s not to like? John Ashbery
