‘The Life and Gardens of Beatrix Farrand’ Screening with Filmmaker Karyl Evans
Join us for a film screening followed by a discussion with the filmmaker, Emmy award-winner Karyl Evans. Beatrix Farrand is one of America’s most cherished landscape designers, who created over 200 plans for public gardens and private homes during her 50-year career. Notable works include the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden at the New York Botanical Garden, the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden in Bar Harbor Maine and Dumbarton Oaks in Washington. She was a proponent of using native plants in her designs. The only woman amongst the eleven founding members of the American Society of Landscape Architects, she was masterful at playing with scale and color to produce energizing garden designs.
