The Jamesport Manor Inn is located on the beautiful North Fork of Long Island, offering fine dining in a breathtaking location. The Jamesport Manor Inn has an interesting story behind it, having undergone two renovations because of fires, and it has a charming art gallery on the top floor. The building has been a staple in Jamesport for over a century, and reopened in 2007 as a restaurant. Having heard so many rave reviews from friends and family, I couldn’t wait to visit and try the food myself.
We began our meal with some salads – for me, the roasted local beet salad with aged goat cheese, bacon, and orange segments topped with roasted pistachio nuts. I love beets, and I especially love them roasted. Put them with goat cheese, and I’m in heaven! The beets were perfectly roasted and tender with just enough bite left to them. The shaved goat cheese on top, combined with the orange and bacon and the divine olive oil drizzled around the plate made for a delectable combination. There were no beets left on my plate! My husband opted for the mixed organic greens salad with Parmesan and honey balsamic vinaigrette. He asked me if I thought I could replicate the dressing at home, it was that good.
For dinner I chose a Jamesport Manor Inn specialty – the goat cheese pan roasted organic chicken. It came highly recommended by our server, and I saw more than one chicken dish pass by. Served on top of a maple acorn squash puree, the chicken was so moist and so full of flavor I could have died and gone to chicken lovers’ heaven. The goat cheese was just slightly melted on top from the heat of the chicken, and the chicken skin was delightfully crisp. Paired with asparagus and a red wine vinegar reduction, this menu staple is a tried and true favorite that could not disappoint even the most critical of diners.
My husband, being the steak eater that he is, opted for the grilled rib eye steak, a nice hunky cowboy-sized steak that’s served with creamy spinach and a delectable bordelaise sauce. The steak was cooked to perfection and meltingly tender and flavorful, and the spinach and giant steak fries were the perfect accompaniment to this man-sized steak meal.
It’s true – no meal is complete without dessert. I was more than thrilled to spy crème brûlée on the dessert menu – I’m a bit obsessed with the stuff. This version left no room for disappointment. Filled with vanilla beans that you can see running through the custard, the top fired until just caramelized and crunchy, the custard smooth and luscious. It was pure vanilla bliss.
My husband chose a dessert any kid-at-heart would appreciate – delicious vanilla gelato sandwiched between two giant chocolate cookies. It was decadent and mouthwateringly good.
The Jamesport Manor Inn has a short yet satisfying menu for both lunch and dinner, serving American Cuisine with Mediterranean flair. I was tempted to try the slow braised beef short ribs or the porcini mushroom raviolis – maybe on my next trip to the North Fork!
