Sip Long Island Wine Country's Best Rosé
As the summer sunsets paint the perfect purple-orange-fuscia-colored backdrop for tours, tastings and more on acres of North and South fork vineyards, the drink that has come to encapsulate the effortlessness of summer is rosé.
Dan’s Best of the Best celebrates two of the best rosés produced on the East End.
Macari Vineyards (150 Bergen Ave., 631-298-0100) located in Mattituck on a 500-acre waterfront estate, is the Dan’s Best of the Best Platinum winner for best rosé. Their salmon colored 2014 Rosé is fruity on the nose with a tartiness on the palate all culminating in a satisfyingly fresh finish.
Our Gold winner is on the South Fork. Wölffer Estate Vineyard (139 Sagg Road, 631-537-5106) in Sagaponack produces the aptly named Summer in a Bottle. This latest rosé is the third Wölffer rosé following their Rosé 2014 and their Grandiose Rosé.
