Hamptons Shine in Golden Globe Nominations

By Eric Feil
2 minute 12/15/2011 Share

Academy Award favorite The Artist, winner of the Audience Award at the 2011 Hamptons International Film Festival, dominated the Golden Globe nominations today by leading all contenders with six nominations—but that’s just the start of the Golden Globe glory we’re feeling in the Hamptons.

In addition to a nomination for Best Picture in the comedy or musical category, The Artist earned a Best Director nod for Michel Hazanavicius, Best Acting nominations for stars Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo, plus Best Screenplay and Best Original Score nods.

Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Charlize Theron and Owen Wilson were among the big names as Woody Harrelson, Gerard Butler, Rashida Jones and Sofia Vergara announced the nominations for the best in both movies and television this year. Yet the Hamptons will have plenty of presence when they hand out the 69th annual Golden Globes.

Hamptonite Steven Spielberg also entered the fray with a Best Animated Feature Film nomination for The Adventures of Tintin, while War Horse got a Best Original Score mention. Brideghampton home owner Madonna also got some Best Original Score love for her directorial debut, W.E., as well as a nod for her own tune from W.E., “Masterpiece,” in Best Original Song.

Alec Baldwin earned a nod for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series—Musical or Comedy for his continued brilliance on 30 Rock (no word on which airline he’ll fly out to Hollywood if he attends the awards), and Madeline Stowe was honored with a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series—Drama for ABC’s Revenge. So what if it’s only set in the Hamptons? This is the Golden Globes!
