Pretty Interesting: Man In Jesus Costume Walks Through The Hamptons

By David Rattiner

I heard about the man dressed as Jesus after we got a few calls here at Dan’s Papers that there was, “A guy dressed like Jesus walking through Eastport.”

If I’m honest, I thought it was a prank call when I first heard about it, but later today I have learned that there IS in fact a man dressed up as Jesus and he is hauling a large cross on his back as well, and he’s spreading the word of God through the Hamptons.

And I kind of like it.

The guy’s name is Robert Wood, he’s 55 years old, he’s a former male prostitute, grew up in Freeport, worked as an exterminator and then one day God told him to go to Texas and to begin walking. So that’s what he has done.

He walked through Southampton this morning, and is on his way towards Montauk and when he gets to Montauk Point, he will then turn around and head to Brooklyn.

I’m sure I’m going to get a lot of flack for this from the aetheists of the Internet, but I just don’t find anything wrong with being a spiritual or religious person. I have a problem when you behave as if yours is better than everyone else’s and attack others for it. But I think that this guy Robert Wood is doing a good thing. I’m not sure I can put it into words, but I get it, and I think it’s good.

Yes it is a little strange and maybe he is a little crazy, but I think it brings a sense of positivity and decensy into the air by doing this, and we need more of that these days.
