Celebrate Secretaries Day on the East End
This Wednesday April 24, the Hamptons join the rest of the country to celebrate Secretaries Day, or Administrative Professionals’ Day, as it’s now called. Our secretaries, administrative assistants, office workers and girl/guy Fridays are honored for their contributions to the workplace. This date recognizes the importance of these individuals and all they do to make businesses and corporations successful.
Initially conceived in the 1950s as a time to honor secretaries, the name of the holiday changed through the years to reflect the wide range of tasks handled by administrative support staff and teams.
So, this Wednesday before you arrive at the office, visit your local bakery, candy shop or florist and bring something that shows your appreciation for the people you count on every day to make your business flourish.
On the South Fork, consider a purchase at the Dan’s Best of the Best 2012 platinum and gold winners. For bakeries: Tate’s, Blue Duck in Southampton or Beach Bakery in Westhampton. For candy: Going Nuts in Southampton or Dylan’s Candy Store in East Hampton. For flowers: Sag Harbor Florist, Dutch Petals in Southampton or Roses & Rice in East Quogue.
On the North Fork, consider a trip to Jundas Pastry Crust & Crumbs in Jamesport or Briermere Farms in Riverhead. For candy: Love Lane Sweet Shoppe in Mattituck and The Candyman in Orient. For flowers: Mattituck Florist or Ivy League Flowers and Gifts in Southold.
