U.S. Women’s Open Poster Designed by LI Artist
The commemorative poster for the 2013 U.S. Women’s Open Championship at the Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton was designed by Long Island artist Elaine Faith Thompson, who was commissioned to paint the Southampton venue for the June 27-30 event conducted by the U.S. Golf Association over the winter.
Thompson painted commemorative artwork for the 2004 U.S. Open at Shinnecock, the 2006 U.S. Open at Winged Foot and the 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage Black.
A renowned artist, known for the intimate detail in her paintings, Thompson’s 2002 commemorative oil painting of the Black Course in Bethpage sold for $100,000 to a private New York investor in 2006. At age 69, her portfolio spans the geographic landscape of other beautiful Long Island views. You can view her art at thompsonart.us.
