Is Oprah Relinquishing Her Daytime Crown?

Water Mill’s Kelly Ripa was crowned TV royalty last week by the biggest small-screen queen of all: Oprah Winfrey. In a surprise appearance on Live, Winfrey, an occasional Hamptons visitor, called Ripa and co-host Michael Strahan the reigning king and queen of talk shows for their consistently high ratings.

No television host has yet eclipsed Winfrey‘s might in the history of daytime talk. Her OWN network continues to capture viewers and she cements her legacy with philanthropic efforts, including a recent donation of $12 million to a new African American history museum in Washington, D.C., which may include various items from her talk show in its exhibits, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Winfrey‘s $12 million donation could help sway that decision… maybe.
