Hamptons 100 Songs of Summer #27
“Buffalo Soldier” by Bob Marley
His legend is immense, his music nostalgic, his hair…well his hair is really long dreadlocks. Bob Marley is the answer to your summer time song problems, and Buffalo Soldier is the quarterback on his team of reggae music. The song was written in 1980, but didn’t come out on record until 1983 and it is about refer to the black U.S. cavalry regiments, known as “Buffalo Soldiers”, that fought in the Indian Wars after 1866, so now you know. A little ironic when you think about how throughout history, the people who are looked down upon are the ones that are always called upon the most during times of need. I know, I know, we just blew your mind right there, and that’s the point.
