Cops: Man With Crack Tried to Rob 7-Eleven Patrons
A Blue Point man was arrested Saturday morning in Hampton Bays after he told a 7-Eleven patron he had a gun and wanted money, according to police.
Southampton Town police said that around 8:30 a.m. 49-year-old Marvin Jennings was demanding cash from customers at the convenience store, and he followed one customer who had refused to hand over money back to the customer’s car. Onlookers called 911, and when officers arrived they arrested Jennings and found he was a crack pipe on him with crack still inside it, police said.
Jennings was charged with attempted first-degree robbery, a felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
He was held overnight before arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court, where he was remanded to Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverside.
