Sag Harbor Named 4th Most Romantic Town; Montauk 25th
With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, Travel and Leisure has named the 25 Most Romantic Towns in America and two Hamptons locations made the list, Sag Harbor and Montauk.
Sag Harbor is very high on the rundown, coming in at number 4.
“This branch of the Hamptons has long inspired good name-dropping: it attracts plenty of celebs and, more than a hundred years ago, even merited a mention in Moby Dick,” Travel and Leisure writes. “On Saturdays from May through October, you can scan the crowds for familiar faces and pick up a local wine and other picnic provisions at the Sag Harbor Farmers’ Market in front of the Breakwater Yacht Club. Readers also ranked Sag Harbor high for romantic hotels, such as The American Hotel, which dates back to 1846.”
Sag Harbor also made a splash last year when Coastal Living named Sag Harbor 4th among America’s Happiest Seaside Towns.
Travel and Leisure says that Montauk, which placed 25th among the Most Romantic, is a “more relaxed version of the Hamptons” and the perfect spot for long walks on the beach, nothing that it was a filming location for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
