Richard Gere Shops for Wands at Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Hamptons regular Richard Gere enjoyed a busy trip to Florida over the weekend, with stops at Universal Orlando and Yankees spring training in Tampa.
Gere dropped by Ollivanders wand shop on Saturday at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal Orlando Resort. During his hosted visit, the Golden Globe winner went to choose a wand at the premier wizards’ shop, but instead “experienced the wonder of the wand choosing him,” Universal reports. Gere also visited the Florida theme park’s Islands of Adventure with his then wife Carey Lowell in late March, 2012 (the couple split in September, 2013).
Though he is suspected to be a very talented and lucky Muggle, some suspect Gere may in fact be made of more magical stuff—a Squib, perhaps?
On Sunday, Gere threw the first pitch at a Yankees spring training game against the Rays in Tampa. The star of films such as Arbitrage, Pretty Woman, An Officer and a Gentleman and Chicago will provide the voice for famous Yankees first baseman Henry “Lou” Gerhig in the upcoming animated film Henry & Me, about a ill young boy who he guides on a magical journey. Along the way, Henry introduces the boy to New York Yankee legends, both past and present, and they teach him about baseball and life.
The Yankees/Rays game ended in a 3-3 tie after 10 innings on Sunday, in spite of efforts by managers Joe Girardi (Yanks) and Joe Maddon to add an extra frame and find a clear winner.
